JOB TITLE:  Principal Engineer

 Provide leadership and share knowledge with other departments.


• Working knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) software and configuration management tools,  and familiarity with engineering requirements and analysis tools

• Trained Knowledge of GD&T
• Understanding of Six Sigma disciplines, design for assembly / design for manufacturing (DFA/DFM).
• Ability and experience with presenting complex technical concepts to audiences with a broad range of technical experience

• Mechanical modeling (CAD – computer aided design), Catia preferred.
• Reviews engineering designs and drawings for tolerances, surface finishes, dimensions, material selection, processing, heat treat etc.… for accuracy and manufacturability
• Applies engineering knowledge in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems.
• Preparation and planning of cost estimates and written technical proposals.
• Act as the technical interface to external customers, and form working relationships with representatives of external technical organizations
• Develop technical relationships with vendors and customers, in coordination with subcontracts management and quality functions, to facilitate technical flow-down and understanding of requirements, testing, and process control

• Engage directly with cross-functional teams and facilitate collaboration between engineering, operations, and program management.  Provide technical expertise to find real-time solutions to internal constraints and manage/mitigate risks to external customer needs. 

• Review and approve Manufacturing Work Instructions and Procurement Requisitions to ensure that all requirements are accounted for and thoroughly/clearly defined for manufacturing and suppliers.

• Keeps management apprised of process performance, quality status, risks, and customer concerns

• Plans, organizes, directs, and reports on all work activities to assure fulfillment of contract/purchase order requirements

• Provides floor support to Operations during work and coordinates additional technical floor support as needed

• Translates engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements in accordance with technical subject matter experts throughout the organization

• Collaborates with program management, engineering, subcontracts/ procurement functional management and customer management teams to ensure that all procurements meet or exceed the requirements of external and internal customers

• Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for product solution

• Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and has the capability to develop the control plan techniques.

• Ability to incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

• Ability to investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality and sustainment.

• Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for production flow, equipment installation, processing steps, and material flow

• Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.

• Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with requirements and regulations

• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and quality specifications

• Create and improve manufacturing work instructions

• Continuously work to improve manufacturing methods, efficiency, and product quality

• Assist in tool design when required to help support operations by developing tooling concepts and using of CAD software to model and release of tool drawings

• Troubleshoot existing processes to improve safety, quality, cost, and efficiency 

• Educate and train operators on new and existing processes

• Develop and maintain detailed work instructions for assigned products/processes in the machining area

• Provide suggestions to improve productivity

• Analyze processing data to highlight trends and implement corrective actions,

• Provide day to day support to manufacturing personnel


• Good organizational skills and ability to work with minimal direction
• Excellent computer skills. Skilled in working with Microsoft Office applications and business database systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem solving skills

• Experience in working with aerospace specifications and drawings, both hard copy and model based

• Experience with machining processes

• Experience with hardware installation processes
• Experience supporting an aerospace manufacturing process with the necessary materials, tooling, and equipment
• Experience authoring, modifying, and auditing manufacturing procedures

• Knowledge of root cause / corrective action processes and techniques
• Experience working on or around CNC controlled machines
• Experience with CNC machining software, reading, and writing


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering or related field and 10 years of aerospace work experience or 7 years with Masters

Classification:  Hourly          
Department:     PROGRAMMING  
Pay Scale:  $20 – $30 /hr


The CNC Programmer is responsible for generating CNC programs, assisting in job setup, program prove out, and assisting in the manufacturing of complex aerospace components and assemblies.


  • Understand process plan including all customer supplied information, both written and digital
  • Responsible for taking product from start to finish including machining, forming, and assembly
  • Design fixtures and tooling for machining centers and assembly
  • Select all standard and custom tooling required
  • Able to read, edit, and optimize Gcode programs for machining efficiency
  • Produce documentation for machine operators to set-up and machine quality parts both safely and efficiently
  • Collaborate with various departments to maintain the flow of products throughout the manufacturing process
  • Able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and cost        


  • Program 3, 4, 5 axis machining centers, 4 axis lathe, waterjet, and router
  • Proficient in using Mastercam for both solid modeling and programming
  • Experience in high speed machining strategies for aluminum, stainless, titanium, and HSRA
  • Ability to communicate technical information to machine operators
  • GD&T and CATIA V5 a plus
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal forming, both hydro-form and press brake.
  • Be accountable for required assignments; time management; successful completion of assigned work and reports.
  • Work well with personnel from other departments, i.e., Manufacturing, Production, Purchasing, etc.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in representation of the Company and its products


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Machine Tool Technology Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in CNC machining and operation
  • Experience with 4 & 5 axis milling and multi axis lathes is preferred.


  • Primary office environment 70%
  • Secondary work in manufacturing environment with some exposure to heat, cold, and noise conditions 30%
